Solvent Based Rust Preventative

Solve 124FE is a fast evaporating rust preventative for steel and other ferrous alloys. Solve 124SE is a fast evaporating version of Solve 124FE. It provides extended rust protection in all but the most humid environments. It can be used for temporary or long term storage. Solve 124FE is a petroleum based product.

Solve 124FE can also be used with coatings such as zinc phosphate or black oxide coating that require a layer of oil for extended rust protection.

The coating that is usually dry to the touch.

Use

Solve 124FE is used at 100% by volume in an immersion application. It can also be used in a low pressure hand sprayer to protect larger parts from rusting. If there is too heavy of a coating remaining on the parts it may be diluted with pure mineral spirits. Best results are obtained if parts are cleaned prior to the application of the rust preventative.

Drying prior to immersion is not required. However excess rinse water should be allowed to drain. Water will sink to the bottom of processing tank and must be removed occasionally. This product is used at room temperature. It has a flash point of 124 degrees and should never be heated.

The product may be cleaned off with a wide variety of alkaline cleaners and solvents.

The parts can be air-dried but drying can be accelerated by using an air blow-off. However, farce drying-is usually not needed. Parts coated with Solve 124FE should not be painted or plated afterwards without removing the product.

Advantages

Solve 124FE is a fast evaporating product. It will leave a dry rust protective film on the surface of steel. It is a water displacing product and parts do not need to be dried prior to processing.

Solve 124FE is very easy to use. Just immerse, wipe on, or spray on the parts.

Disposal and Safety

Follow all local discharge regulations before putting this product down a drain. It is a petroleum based product and is not water soluble. It should not be put down a sanitary drain. The material is not readily biodegradable. Any industrial chemical may have problems depending on local codes.

The product has a flash point of 124 degrees and should never be heated.
