What effect does water have on Powder Strip?
The most common cause of failure of Powder Strip is contamination by water.
Powder Strip tolerates very little water. Water destroys the stripping ability of Powder Strip and also breaks down some of the components of the stripper causing attack on softer metals such as zinc or aluminum.
As the amount of water in a bath increases you will see an increase in stripping times and an increased attack on aluminum and zinc especially cast metals.
Too much water will make it impossible to rejuvenate the bath after it is depleted.
If parts are removed from the paint stripping bath rinsed and returned to the bath the life of the bath will be decreased.
